Legendary poet, music composer, singer, actor, journalist, author and filmmaker, the self-proclaimed
'jajabor' (wanderer) Dr. Bhupen Hazarika took his last breath at Mumbai's Kokilaben Hospital at
around 4:37 PM on Saturday, November 05, 2011. The Assam Government has declared a three-day
State mourning and a half holiday on November 8 as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
He was a recipient of many awards like Padma Bhushan, Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Asom Ratna and
Sangeet Natak Akademi Award among others. He touched millions of hearts with his baritone voice
that will never fade from the minds of his fans and music lovers the world over.
The Committee visited the ASWAN POP in Dimoria block and made video conference with Majuli and Sadia. Also a meeting has been organised by BDO Dimoria along with Gram Panchayat members.
The inaugural function of Anundoram Borooah Award 2011 was held on 23rd September, 2011 at Sarusajai Sports Complex, Guwahati. The Chief Guest of the function was the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Tarun Gogoi and other dignitaries present at the function were Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hon'ble Minister of Education, Health & F.W., Assam Accord; Prof. Gautam Barua Director, IIT Guwahati, M.K. Yadava, MD(AMTRON) and many more.
Anundoram Borooah Award 2011 consists of a citation in the form of a Certificate along with a Laptop to honor the meritorious students securing First Division in the HSLC, High Madrassa, FM Examinations, under State Madrassa Education Board and Sanskrit and Pali Praveshika Examination, under Assam Sanskrit Board.
For the 6th consecutive year total 19,459 nos student will be awarded. The breakup of the students under different state boards is as shown below :
