Launch of ICT@School and Rajiv Gandhi Computer Literacy Programme Phase-V

The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam Shri Tarun Gogoi inaugurated ICT@School and Rajiv Gandhi Computer Literacy Programme (RGCLP) on 16th February, 2010 at ITA Centre for Performing Arts, Pragjyoti Complex, Machkhowa, Guwahati. The Hon'ble Education Minister Shri Gautam Bora and Hon'ble IT Minister, Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma have grace the function as guests of honour. The other distinguished guests present in the auspicious occaision were Shri Niraj Verma, Commissioner & Secretary, IT Department, Govt.of Assam, Shri L. Balasubramanian, President, SLS Division, M/S NIIT Ltd. and Shri Soumya Kanti, President, M/S Educomp Solutions Ltd. as well as the Head of the Institutions from the schools to be covered under ICT@School and RGCLP Ph.-V.

The function started at 11.30 AM with the inauguration of the symbolic Computer Lab for ICT@School and RGCLP Ph.-V by cutting the ribbon at the hands of the Hon'ble chief Minister of Assam. The chief Minister then interacted with the 72 students who had come from different RGCLP Schools for demonstration of their Computer skills in the following areas:

  • Powerpoint/Impress
  • Internet
  • Spoken English & CAE
  • Paint

MD, AMTRON welcomed the Chief Guest and the Guests of Honour and other dignities presents. In his welcome speech, he declared that 641 High Schools accross the state would be covered under ICT@School and RGCLP Ph.-V.

In the function, Shri Tarun Gogoi, Hon'ble Chief Minister had also launced a hand book on Rajiv Gandhi Computer Literacy Programme and ICT@SChool & RGCLP Phase-V. This book is supposed to be helpful for better understanding of the entire RGCLP Project.

The President of M/S NIIT Ltd., Shri L. Balasubramanian presented monentos to Hon'ble Chief Minister, Hon'ble Education Minister and Hon'ble IT Minister.

The meeting ended with the vote of thanks from Shri R. L. Mazumdar, General Manager, AEDC Ltd.
